The best weapon for the insurgents in that kind of terrain would be a vintage bolt action rifle with a scope on it. You can see the enemies coming, but they can't see you. You fire one or two shots and run. A shot from a bolt action rifle is very accurate, it will hit someone and cause serious injury or death.

Well after few 12.7 you probably wont need to run, because the standard humvee can be seriously punished by that kind of power. and no, its not to heavy, its what? from 12 to 20 kilos depending on what model, what scope. Not that heavy for average soldier.

I know of better weapons, like wire guided anti-tank missiles. That can take out a humvee.
