the sound is the sunni muslim call for prayer, where the oneness of God is affirmed, His greatness is proclaimed, Muhammed[saws] prophethood is acknowledged, and the obligatory prayer referred as success/means of salvation is reminded and the faithful are asked to attend for its offering.

I know, it was such a beautiful place, one of my favorite mosques that I've visited, and this muezzin was one of the best I've heard... his voice echoes through the entire city and it's gorgeous.

Yeah, i will go there inshaAllah about 2 mounths, after 11 years! SunhanaAllah, i miss herat so much, this is where i was birth.

it's not a "sunni" call to prayer - it's quite universal - sunnis and shiis have lived quite peacefully in herat for centuries, as they have in much of the muslim world. i hope we can all just appreciate this call to prayer.

It's a Shia mosque in Herat near the Iran border. But we should not divide ourselfs in to different groups yet help others and guide them to the right path of ISLAM.

There is supposingly no division and the Quran recognises no denomination. Its has neither Sunni or shia but MUSLIM. So all those who follow Quran are Muslims. I think if i have a shia friend and he is inviting me to their prayer, i would gladly go and pray as long as i think there isnt a shirk. Shia's and Sunni both have Allah but its just that shia's have given more space for more saints. We can always abide in peace and also stay together. Allah bless. Amen.
