yeah i agree with you tykearmy, im only 16 and joining the army in january an the pay is really poor.people get paid more to sit in offices all day whilst they are risking their everyay helping us and our country and a privates on 14,000 a year! its ridcilous.

Im a (1st) Gulf War vet, and my lad is a serving squddy on the verge of going out to Afghan. It think this was a brilliant series, hats off to Ross Kemp for literally putting his neck on the line to highlight what our lads have to go through for very little money and not enough equipment. Respect to HM Forces, and Ross Kemp!!

Kemp is right - pay them more - I did my time 79-84 starting pay £9.59 per day plus £1.50 parachute pay. I bet these guys have not kept pace with inflation. Brave men - they deserve our nation's respect.

It is a wonderful documentary.You told the very truth about the bravery of the British soldiers .I agree with you but you missed to talk enough about the misery of those civilian Afghans who lived between your fire and the number of civilian casualties.You missed to say enough about the bravery of your enemies.
I respect this brave jurnalistic work.
I offer my respect and say thank you,to those soldiers , who thought that they were there to help Afghans.
BUT You can help us with war.

I am pretty sure the British Army would have had a say in the editing of this series.
Also pretty sure the soldiers themselves have a healthy respect for their enemy. But to praise them in any way and get involved in afghan civilian issues would have been too political for the army.
Lets just stick to the lads doing their job.
