She drove the town of Wasilla in debt 20 million dollars, that's around 3,000 dollars per person. The average child born today is 30,000 dollars in debt while the average college graduate in 2006 was in debt 22,000 dollars. Honestly, we can't afford another republican. The money alone from the iraq war could have been spent funding for college tuition for every American age 18-25. So not only do republicans spent too much, they spend money in the wrong places.

i think it's extremely idealistic for anyone to think that the president (be it dem or rep)is actually in charge of the government. call me cynical, but the smart money is riding on the idea that the 'men behind the curtain' are really controlling not only domestic, but also foreign poicy. so...... having said that, i think it comes down to the lesser of two evils. we have a liberal conservative (mccain) and an extremely liberal liberal (obama). usually moderation is the best choice.

So in other words when the president comes up with a budget, that's not actually him but it's "men behind the curtain" and anything that happens shouldn't be blamed on them? No, it's about time presidents start taking responsibility for the consequences their actions cause. And I think you need to start reading the news, because McCain isn't a liberal republican anymore. Obama is more moderate in the sense he respects the constitution, unlike the Republicans.

if the president were an accountant, i'd be more inclined to buy into your idea. while he approves (or disapproves) a budget, he didn't write it. just like their speeches. i agree with you that they should be held accountable for their actions (and inactions). regarding my watching/reading the news, i probably should do more of that. however, most major news organizations are controlled by whom? the liberals (no, not all, but most). most all of it is just the latest spin on the 'latest'.
