Veterans - Soviets in Afghanistan - March 31 - Pt 1
Uploaded by: AlJazeeraEnglish
Video Description:
As part of its series on veterans from some of the world's most brutal and forgotten conflicts Al Jazeera travelled to Russia.
Despite being the Soviet Union's largest military operation since the second world war, the decade-long war in Afghanistan is regarded by many as a humiliation and the Soviet 'Vietnam'.
However many veterans are still physically and psychologically damaged by their time in Afghanistan and say they do not receive adequate support upon their return.

dumbass
f3w3rds are you that fukken stupid?
Soviet generals estimated in the 80's that they would need 50 military divisions to pacify and stabilize Afghanistan and you really think that NATO will be able to do this with only 47000 soldiers ???!!!
The ISAF only has partial control over some regions of the country and things definitely won't change. The numbers just don't add up.
Russians understand, and no the difference between Communism, and Russian culture
Chinese on the other hand will call you a racist... They aren't as strong willed as Russians to resist thier tortures.
We mustn't blame Russians
