that's not the world record. the world record is 100,000 digits memorized by a japanese engineer. i think there's another one with more, but it wasn't recognized as an official record for some reason.

the calculator still approximates pi, because it is not exact, it is still a decimal aproximation. But 3.14159265358 is good enough for most any math assignment

well, the digits of pi arent following any period (not yet, the "first" 1.2e12 digits) and you cant simply compute pi so you have to memorize it so=> it´s the best possibility for a competition. (The guiness world record: over 65000 memorized digits!)
