Su-27 Flanker Front Line Fighter Aircraft, Russia

Uploaded by: 01e9
Video Description:
The Su-27 (NATO designation Flanker) is the front line fighter aircraft designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and manufactured by Irkut Corporation. The export version is the Su-27SK. The aircraft is equipped to operate autonomously in combat over hostile territory, in escort of deep-penetration strike aircraft and in the suppression of enemy airfields. The aircraft provides general air defence in cooperation with ground and airborne control stations. A naval variant with folding wings, the Su-33, exists.
Su-27 entered production in 1982 and is in service with Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Vietnam, and is built under license in China as the F-11. A variant, the Su-30MK, has been sold to India with licensed local production. 50 aircraft were ordered from Irkut and the first entered service with the Indian Air Force in September 2002. The last was delivered in December 2004. The first of up to 140 aircraft indigenously built by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) was delivered in November 2004. China ordered 76 two-seat Su-30MKK and 24 Su-30MK2 naval fighters. Deliveries were completed in August 2004. Indonesia ordered two Su-27SK and two Su-30MK aircraft, which were delivered in September 2003, and has plans to order eight more.
The latest version is the Su-27SM, an upgrade for the Russian Air Force which has strengthened fuselage for extra weapons payload, improved N001 radar, glass cockpit with three-colour multi-function displays and improved avionics. The first was delivered in December 2003.
DESIGN
The Su-27SK is a highly integrated twin-finned aircraft. The airframe is constructed of titanium and high-strength aluminium alloys. The engine nacelles are fitted with trouser fairings to provide a continuous streamlined profile between the nacelles and the tail beams. The fins and horizontal tail consoles are attached to tail beams. The central beam section between the engine nacelles consists of the equipment compartment, fuel tank and the brake parachute container. The fuselage head is of semi-monocoque construction and includes the cockpit, radar compartments and the avionics bay.
WEAPONS
The aircraft is equipped with a 30mm GSh-301 gun with 150 rounds of ammunition and a range of missiles, rockets and bombs mounted externally on ten hardpoints.
The aircraft's infrared search and track system, laser rangefinder, radar, and helmet-mounted target designator provide detection, tracking and attack capability.
The range of air-to-air missiles carried by the Su-27K aircraft includes: R-27R1 (NATO designation AA-10A Alamo-A), all-aspect medium-range missile with semi-active radar homing and R-27T1 (AA-10B Alamo-B) with infrared homing and a range from 0.5 to 60km; and R-73E (AA-11 Archer) all-aspect, close-combat air-to-air missile with infrared homing and a range from 0.3 to 20km.
Ordnance for air-to-ground missions include: 100, 250 and 500kg freefall and retarded aerial bombs; 500kg incendiary devices; 25 and 500kg RBK cluster bombs; and C-8, C-13 and C-25 unguided aerial missiles.
COUNTERMEASURES
The Su-27SK is equipped with a new electronic countermeasures suite for individual aircraft, and for mutual and group protection in the forward and rear hemispheres. The countermeasures system includes a pilot illumination radar warning receiver, chaff and infrared decoy dispensers, and an active multi-mode jammer located in the wingtip pods.
SENSORS
The Su-27SK is equipped with a Phazotron N001 Zhuk coherent pulse Doppler radar with track-while-scan and look-down/shoot-down capability. The range of the radar against 3-square-metre targets is over 100km in the forward hemisphere and 40km in the rear hemisphere. The radar has the capacity to search, detect and track up to ten targets with automatic threat assessment and proritisation.
The aircraft has an OEPS-27 electro-optic system, which includes an infrared search-and-track (IRST) sensor collimated with a laser rangefinder. The range of the electro-optical system is 40-100km, depending on the aspect angle presented by the target.
COMMUNICATIONS
The radio communications suite provides: voice and data; VHF/UHF radio communications between aircraft and ground control stations within sight range; voice radio communication with ground control stations and between aircraft up to a range of 1,500km; an encrypted data link for combat information exchange between aircraft; and command guidance from ground control stations using automatic interception mode.
SYSTEMS
The Su-34 is equipped with an electro-optical fire-control system, supplied by the Urals Optical and Mechanical Plant (YOM3), and a Geofizika FLIR (forward-looking infrared) pod. Leninetz of St Petersburg supplies the radar systems and TsNIRTI the electronic countermeasures suite.

lolz, that's great material!!! Shelldawn i think u saw what it means 2 fire from"40 miles" away in irak u boom ass :) and as for cobra ur pilots are 2 scared 2 do it even in an air show and ur so "BOOM" in ur head 2 actualy think taht u will have the ocasion off even using f22's coze very soon ul not have fuel for it u dumb ass :))
Alexas...Actually ... ( 3 months ago by shelldawv)
Alexas...Actually when the AIM-120 comes online, the range will be over 100 miles, and that is far enough to allow your airshow pilots to perform as many cobras' and backflips that they want til the missle arrives. BOOOOM !! American pilots see no need to put the added fatigue to thier aircraft by performing airshow stunts...and believe me , we have more than enough fuel to blast many, many Su's from the sky !! Besides what's gonna happen after you lose the few veteren pilots that you do have ??
The missle was not ... ( 3 months ago by nutrigironman)
The missle was not fired blind, the SA3 radar was of the old russian longwave sort, when the F117 was developed considerations for longwave radars were not taken into account as they US assumed if they ever entered a war with a cridible AA threat the opposing country would try use it most modern equipment to counter the stealth technology. The chances of a SAM missle 'detonating' near enoough to a aeroplane to shoot it down when fired blind is miniscule.

you are all idiots who doubt the superiority of russian planes. Just idiots! American planes are too exesnsive and not relieble and stealth is worthles novadays lol you idiots!
Krutoy: you are ... ( 3 months ago by TAWpilot07)
Krutoy: you are very, very, very wrong.
alas, if you're Russian, it means that the propaganda of your government works well.
stealth is VERY, VERY, VERY important, especially nowadays. tell me why Sukhoi works on the PAK-FA project -- a direct opponent to the American F-22? a stealthy fighter, just like the F-22 and F-35.
and don't call other people idiots, OK? respect and be respected.
yes russian can ... ( 3 months ago by junver29)
yes russian can claim that their plane is the most maneuverability especially the SU37. Western plane cannot deny this. but for todays war it is not apllicable. now, he who see first the enemy wins. The F22 has the technology that can lock and fire onto enemy with in a thousand mile, then fly away. Let the missile do the job. Now tell me, who needs maneuverabilty? and beside the more the plane do some acrobtic stunt the more stress it putting into the pilot.

ok i admit i just spamed :) nobody is idiot im just tired of endless arguing which plne is better. Fact is nobody knows cuz there hasnt been any real aerial combat for decades. ALl theres been is some poor country with bad pilots and no radar beeing overrun so we cannot say what technology is effective these days.

manouverability is ... ( 2 months ago by frandaman27)
manouverability is still very important for evading missiles. The Flanker would win in a tight in 'turning and burning' fight and it caries generally better missiles (R77, and especially R73 for close range work) and more of them (10 compared to 8). However, as you say, the F22 would be very hard to detect, although Su27's are currently upgrading to a more advanced type of radar which would make the f22 a little easier to spot. Only one thing is for certain, it would be one hell of a dogfight!
mr. frandaman27, ... ( 2 months ago by junver29)
mr. frandaman27, maneuverablity is important in evading missiles, yes you are right but how can you evade a missile if you dont detect it in the right time, thats the wonder of the AMMRAM. it turns off the built in radar so the enemy plane could not see it in their radar, the missile will be guided by the computer feeded by the plane and if it is near the target the missile built in radar will automatically turns on. so there is no time evading it.

the new upgraded radars the su-27 has is capable of radar detection on the f-22. this is only speculation so dont get pissed off.one would assume the russians would upgrade their jets to a world wide profficient point. the missile isnt stealthy becuase the large amount of heat it gives off.
wow thats great. ... ( 2 months ago by junver29)
wow thats great. F22 is not yet in production, it is still in the stage of development yet the russian has a counter measure on it? What puzzle me is that how would the russian know if their radar can detect the F22. F22 never been in a mission. F22 never been in a sortie outside US.

stealthy missiles ... ( 1 month ago by sovietamerican2)
stealthy missiles can be detected the same way detecting a stealthy target.plus if the radar is shut off it loses sight of its enemy and the enemy could have changed course farther away from the missiles that can activates its radar.other then that agility can evade a missile wether its stealthy or not. plus the missile will have a heat signature..due to the fact it it gets heated up going at high speeds.

mr. junver29, the su-27 and any other russian jet can only perform this often praised agility in subsonic speeds. and the fact that theyve got constant computer probs, makes it even worse..

TheGoldenAgeoofBoredo, I don't know what you think of yourself, but if they had constant computer problems, they would not have launched the first man (Yuri Gagarin) in space, or the first satellite (Sputnik) in space or MIR space station, the only solitary space station to be worked on and launched indegenously by a superpower that is Russia. I can keep going...world's best fighter pilots, best assault weapons...AK-47, leading supplier of military aircrafts, fastest missile, powerful vacuum b.
