Green Berets have a different role to the SASR, also, SFOD-D 1st is more capable than the ADF SASR, seeing as the SFOD-D now trains both the SAS and SASR in CT techniques aswell as being the unit that developed the modern CQC and CQB being used by current SASR members. How do i know this? my cousin has been an SASR operator for 10 years and has done 2 tours of afganistan in both helmund and oruzgan provinces and has worked with Green berets (which he said he admires), and the SBS

Question, Im an Australian whos 17, and Im looking into getting US citizenship, I will be enlisting in the US army (was going marines for FORECON but ive decided US army), would a trade in mechanics, plus one language other than english (french), (ive also been shooting since i was 5 and ive been involved with the ADF through junior programs for a few years), and a pretty good fitness even cut it close (of course woorking my way up during service) get me close to applying>? or is it hand picked

applying for? US Army...np...Green Berets matters not on the things you have been involved on but what you can evolve to. Meaning you might be strong as an ox but if your mental limits peak at low levels...its not gonna happen.

if your wanting in the Green Berets you must have had good grades in High School to get into the Green Berets at your age is going to be very hard they must learn to speak 2 differnt Languages an they must master a trade weapons,Communications etc.
anyone can Volinteer for anything in the U.S Military. it's making the cut that matters.

basicly as the song for the Green Berets go, 100 will try but only 3 will wear the Green Beret I had an uncle that was a Green Beret. great man was a Combat Medic. it's a very tough process, Training is about 2 years an that's just getting into the Green Berets keep in mind you'll go through Army Basic first. There is a Reason why many of the men you see in the Green Berets are in their late 20's an early 30s'.

Yeah bud, i come from a long Aussie military family tradition although i dont like it here in AU so im getting US citizenship.
ill have my mechanics trade
i know french and english (looking into learning arabic as it seems the most useful at this point in time)
im fairly fit (run 3 miles a day, wieght lift, and do manual work 9 1/2 hours a day)
got good grades in school
and ive been up to state level in shooting comps
ive heard ahaving manual skills (mechanics, etc) gets you extra cred

O ya. you'll get extra credit. hell man you might even get those nice Bonuses that the Army gives damn near anyone lol. knew a guy who who got a %50,000 sign on bonus just because he was going into the Army Medical Field. I'm going into the Cavscouts Cavscouts get you about $4,000 for joining up. now SF well I know it's over $20,000 remember that's just for signign up lol. after 90 days in the military you get that money.
