Bill Hicks: What is the point to Life

This is totally profound but TRUE, heard it many years ago, but the full implications only hit me the other day. Sheer Genius, and sadly missed. Bill doesn't go down well with a lot of Christian Folk(Right Wing) but for me he epitomises the whole Christian view on life, common sense, look through the traditions and see the essence of what life is and what it COULD be.

Everything is meaningless till you give it a meaning, that's the question 'what's the meaning of life?' is yet unanswered on a collective level. If dying is your meaning, than it is so in your own life. I rather keep it simple, living is my meaning of life. That's why it's called life instead of death. Just as the point of dreaming isn't waking up..

There's an obvious cut at 1:10, right after he says "and let the demons run amok". I've always wondered why that is. In other shows, in the same routine, he mentions a few names after this: Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jesus, John Lennon. Makes the thing even more powerful and I can't imagine why Bill or anyone else would cut these out.

ive seen a video of this same speech somewhere, where he mentions those names. its so TRUE its ridiculous. Bill Hicks is more of a prophet or saint than a mere stand up comedian and this is proof of that.

Hicks transcended political parties. He wouldn't be stupid enough to affiliate himself with any political party because they are comprised of power-hungry idiots who suck the dicks of corporate executives on a daily basis.
The media (all media companies are owned by entertainment corporations) presents you with choices on every issue, and we, being idiots, tend to pick one of the choices instead of realizing that most of all the choices are fucking idiotic.
