Hurricane Katrina Aftermath Biloxi, Mississippi

Uploaded by: HurricaneChaseExtrem
Video Description:
This video was shot 3 weeks after Katrina. Although most of the media attention is on New Orleans, I found that the damage in Biloxi, Mississippi was devastating. In New Orleans they are dealing with flooded houses, in Biloxi the houses are gone! I have hours of video and I will be presenting most of it in time. This is the Biloxi waterfront. Note the large structures remain, however, the destruction to smaller structures is nearly complete. This video primarily focuses on damage caused by the 20' storm surge. Of particular interest is the Casino Barges. There are 3 in this video, however, there were others as well. The barges were located 100 yards from the beach, laying primarily in parking lots. Special Thanks to Tate Towing and Recovery in Fort Myers, Florida for their assistance on this project. Please Visit Our Weather BookStore www.WeatherBookStore.com

Biloxi and the Gulf ... ( 10 months ago by greatmuta1)
Biloxi and the Gulf Coast became an after thought after the media focused on all of the chaos happening in New Orleans. I work and live in Biloxi and I am still amazed when people visit from all parts of the country and can't believe the destruction that happened.I think the reason that is because N.O. got all of the attention in the media and continues to. Biloxi and the G.C. may not have the history of N.O. or character but we matter!

i am from Canada and ENRAGED at the lack of help the people never seemed to receive. Some couldn't afford to leave.
i've never been to New Orleans or even Mississippi.
I watched the hurricane on television the night before and like a few others i had seen I assumed there would be a little damage.
I am white and I agree with Kanye West-- George W, Bush doesn't care about black people.

I have lived in biloxi for the 14 years of my life and I was 11 when this strom hit. My uncle stayed home when we all left, I was so scared that I thought he was dead, but thanks to god's watching hands he was saved. South Mississippi got the worst of this storm and we are working hard to become strong again. I know that our home on the mississippi gulf coast we be better then it was before and that was will never left a storm get out spirts down ever again, because we will be strong.

You are right on ... ( 3 months ago by nannasc)
You are right on with your comments! Money was given to NO for levees but was used for other things. So, when the levees break, who do they blame? The very government which gave them money to fix it - yet they chose not to. It is unbelievable to me that Nagin still has a job - he has got to be totally useless.

I live in Biloxi and came home to a slab of concrete where my house used to be. I appreciate this video and every other that shows the realization that Katrina hit Biloxi rather than New Orleans. The eye of the storm actually came closer to Biloxi than New Orleans... Biloxi will never be the same and it is upsetting. Thank you for this video though. ^^
