This scene pisses me off, I like the actress, but the character drives me nuts. She's a total whiner to go about like that. If your true love makes a big deal about comming for you, and then doesn't show, that should say something. Instead of going all Juliet, 'I'm gonna kill myself' she SHOULD'VE been like "Okay, he didn't come for me, he's either in trouble or he's gonna be when i find him" that's how I oulda done it... and if she thought he was dead, she should've looked for proof b4 this act

Uh, that's kind of the point. This movie is supposed to be somewhat satirical of the typical fairytale, so they overdo the whole damsel in distress female dependancy thing in order to be funny.

the best part about this movie is people got to see the real andre rossimoff as he was not andre the giant. He truly was the gentlest kindest man alive. That and any scene with christopher guest. "I suppose by now youve noticed my interest in pain"

did you read the book? I know someone already explained the satirical part for you but william goldman's abridgement of the princess bride by morgernstern (the original is WAY too satirical and dense for a nice read) depicts satire perfectly in terms of buttercup. Her stupidity and helplessness is all too funny.

how was it NOT a page turner? I HAD to read that book for school and tbh I was disappointed with my teacher's choice of using it for advanced 10th grade English. I was completely pessimistic about it and it was just a total page turner for me. The satire was HILARIOUS and suspense was thrilling. You probably picked up the original, which is why you didnt like it. GET THE ABRIDGEMENT. if you did then there's something wrong with you

Ease up, pal. o.O It was a long time ago, so i dont remember what version and i only got to the BEGINNING so didn't really reach the part where the STORY actually started - I even skipped ahead a little and it wouldn't stop talking about how ugly butercup was and how strict Inigo's father was. Sorry if that's not a page-turner for me. I DID say i have a short attention span so sue me.

there is something wrong with you. lol no offense but it sounds like you didn't even understand anything. And second of all, Domingo was never strict, he just never showed affection and that part was close to the middle more than the beginning.Third of all, they never said buttercup was ugly. They put her on the top 20 but mentioned her potential. All those parts were funny. The beginning was funny. You probably didn't get the humor. Either that or you were way too young

Yes I was, like 9. And I know whatever version i read DID say she was ugly cause I was completely thrown off by it, I remembered in the movie she was suppose to be this really beautiful girl and i didn't know why the book said different- so maybe it was so whacked out version, idk and i dont really care, i'm fine with just watching a good movie, and I dont need you telling me there's something wrong with me.

im joking with there something being wrong with you. But really it was a misunderstanding. The count said she looked like a mess but nonetheless she was beautiful and part of the satire was she was in rank 20 and didnt become number 1 until Westley left. And the book was perfectly easy, even for 9 year olds. It's ok if you want to stick with the movie. I just think it's shameful that people who didn't even understand the book (despite its easiness) think it's worse than the movie
