According to Nintendo, Mew cannot be found or caught in Pokemon Yellow, Red, or Blue. Outside of a GameShark code (which may mess up your Pokedex and render the game incompatible with Pokemon Stadium), the #151st Pokemon remains a cool litte extra that is only handed out by Nintendo on special occasions, such as Mall Tours or Pokemon events.

actually, Red, Blue and Yellow weren't GBC games, they were regular gameboy games that could be played on the old school GBs.

Haven't played these games since I was a kid, but this made me want to try it out.
And god I was shocked when I saw it worked!
Tried two times first without any results, my game froze. What I did wrong those two times was about that slowpoke guy, first I walked right in front of him, second I talked to him. For this to work, one must make him walk up to you, like in this movie clip.

I'm so used to the game saying: enemy pokemon is tormented by Darkrai's bad dreams, on my pearl version that it seemed odd.
You can get Mew that way but via a different sequence of trainers you battle and escape.
