i got a mac book from school, and already after two years, the pvc pipe outer covering is cracking, and they binding around the lcd display if pealing off.
now this computer is TOUGH

Sure, it's tough... but it's for people who like bulky-tough stuff. Just like how a Hummer can't compare to a Ferrari, this "tuff stuff" can't compare to something that looks a whole lot better... like, yes, a MacBook Pro.

Not to say it isn't neat you can run one over in a car. And throw it against the wall when you get frustrated. Must be a perk. ;D

Most interesting part is where they empty a gallon jug of water into it. We all know that is a real-life danger that we all must endure on a daily basis.

This is a CF-29, not a CF-30, but that is just semantics. They are basically the same machine, with the 30 having the duo core and a much brighter screen. Not really that heavy either, only about 8 pounds. With the handle you don't need a carry case either. And probably the best thing about these laptops is they have a standard 3 year parts and labor warranty. Find another manufacturer that has that.......

to the mac lover, macs are definitely an acquired taste of a computer, they are way too over priced, and no that's not cause i "can't afford" one, it's because they just they are just an overall over-rated computer, face it windows based computers are and always will be better.

I'm not a Mac lover, but I do use Macs. However, I also use Windows and I am just getting into using Linux.
I have a MacBook Pro and it's a good laptop.
But, the Panasonic Toughbook has a very specific purpose: to take a beating in environments where a laptop can be subject to a lot of stress that can break it, yet you still need to be able to process data reliably in the field.
You'd never want to take a MacBook Pro, a Tecra, or a ThinkPad to the places a typical Toughbook goes into.

MacBook Pros and Toughbooks have different purposes.
You never want to take a MacBook Pro to a place where the typical Toughbook operates in. This isn't being anti-Apple, but stating a fact as you also don't want to take a Vaio or an Inspiron in the same places a Toughbook is used in.
Besides a Toughbook, identify a mass-produced laptop that stands a decent chance of surviving the rigors of police duty, construction work, and even on the field in a military exercise.
