Finally, a Canadian who can think outside fox, CNN and the American media box.
I'm perplexed by the condemnation he's receiving by fellow Canadians for simply challenging this woman's pathetic and unsubstantiated gross arguments. I guess ignorance doesn't know borders. Hers can't even be named argument, but an obvious mission to popularity by appeasing western Islamophobic media. Her desperate attempt to play the victim card is nausiating to say the least; it's been exhausted already!

I do my fair share of harping on America's problems, but holy crap, this guy is so pretentious and blatant in his America-bashing.
On the other hand, Ali is AMAZING and she really raises a good point that most Westerners have a very biased perspective. We don't understand the luxuries we enjoy.

Sure there is Islamophobia but there is also a lot of measured warranted critique of Muslim doctrine of extremist Muslim actions that get decried as Islamophobia reflexively. There is also a lot of anti-athist, anti-Jewish, and anti-Christian phobia in many Mulsim socities as well and must of it institutionalzied.

Half the inheritance, worth half a mans testimony in court, men allowed multiple wives and women get one spouse, men may reprimand their wives physically (how much is of debate) while women aren't permitted to do so to husbands, it is much more convoluted for a woman to divorce a men then vice versa, wives are expected to have sex when the husband has the urge etc etc.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is nothing but an attention seeker playing up controversies to garner media hype.
Her hatred of Islam is on her part a lack of understanding the fact that what she suffered in her childhood was 'Somalian culture', not 'Islamic culture'.

Just thought I would point out that the Canadian chief executive (our "Governor General") since 2005 is a black woman (originally from Haiti). Not to mention that our previous GG was a Chinese-Canadian woman. Does that count as tolerance and equality that you were calling for?

Your GG's are not elected, they're appointed by the crown like so many past colonial governors of the British Empire.

The governor general fulfills all the functions of our head of state (the queen of Canada is our official head of state, she also happens to be the queen of England but those are legally distinct roles).
Our prime ministers are the head of Parliament but they are not elected by a popular vote, they are the leader of the party which happens to win the most seats in the general election. We elect an MP for our riding, we don't vote for who will be the prime minister.

We have very many ethnically diverse MPs. Who are elected. Perhaps you weren't aware that we don't vote for our Prime Minister (unless you happen to be in the riding he represents... but of course he could still be the Prime Minister even if he wasn't elected as the MP for his riding), so your ranting over wanting us to ELECT a minority Prime Minister was... well... I know how PMs are chosen in Canada. The fact is that first a minority still has to be elected to represent his/her riding, then be chosen by his/her fellow party members to be the party leader and if the party holds enough seats then that party leader becomes PM. Duh.
Doesn't change the fact that your reply to the election of a black US president was to bring up your crown-APPOINTED tokens as if the GG is the leader of your country.

Actually, technically the PM is crown appointed. Just as the GG is. It is convention that it would be the leader of the party that holds the most seats.
The GG represents our country as head of state, nothing stupid about comparing that to your head of state.

Just admit that your head-of-state is not elected, directly or indirectly by the people, but crown-appointed. You don't govern yourselves - some menopausal inbred occupying Buckingham Palace chooses your head-of-state.
Our electoral college may be confusing to some, but at least its based on real votes cast in real elections. Obama was elected by the people, not appointed like your token black and yellow GG's.
