How on earth do they managed to do such a perfect job on such a large object? I can't even paint a straight line on an a4 paper. Also, the paint job on both sides of the plane have to be perfectly aligned. Mind blowing. Not enough, the plane paint job has to withstand the elements.

Uh, in what to you base your opinion on Airbus being better than Boeing? -Believe it or not, they're both the same thing! Both have the same power on today's market, Boeing for its loooooooooong history, and Airbus for its rate of globalization, also, I think that accidents happen because they were NOT meant to be, they are ACCIDENTS, and many of those accidents happen due to the pilot's error, the plane did not want to go right into the ground and burn!!!

Not only pilot error.. maintenance and assembly are some major issues.. the problem is human error in or out of the cockpit.

One thing i don't like about the A330 is, where the Horizontal Stabiliser/Elevator joins to the fuselage. Why do they have that grey patch thingy?

Its not meant to be painted over, it has something to do with the material from which the point where the horizontal stab attahces to the fuselage are made of.

that is correct. the entire horizonta stab moves when you fine tune the pitch for landing and is also set according to payload for AoA, that way when they rotate of the runway, its more controled, and avoids tail strikes, and such. if you paint it over, it can take out the paint around that area, and further attribute the tail cone and surrounding areas to peel, and increases surface parasite drag as well. hope that clears it up.

oh ur welcome. i see these things everyday. its cool to watch. another thing i forgot to mention is that it can cause a level or considerable damage to the actuators that move it (if the paint binds to the gliding surfaces. it can also cause track probles...its quite the intersting topic to discuss.) it can also cause dirt and grime to build up as well under the paint..oh man i could go on and on.
