I wish I could find a more detailed analysis of the current situation in Afghanistan by Chomsky, because it doesn't seem to be as easy to criticize the Afghanistan war as it is the Iraq war. When he says "Taliban fighters," does he mean people fight against the Taliban, or Taliban members themselves? And about the majority of Afghans wanting reparations with the Taliban, I'm gonna have to find that study, cuz I remember reading a study in which the Taliban had very low approval ratings.

Bush won't attack Iran. Instead we're caught in a new kind of Cold War-like stand off. There is no doubt Bush wants to turn Iraq into a U.S. colony, but all the chatter from the inside points to Bush giving up on an actually attacking Iran before he leaves.

That's probably true. Nonetheless, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of "precise bombing" of specific nuclear facilities in Iran (much more likely than a full-scale invasion, anyways).

Listen to the last minute of the video again. For "taliban fighters" to mean "people who fight the taliban" then these people who fight the Taliban (suddenly) want accomadations with whom they are currently fighting.
Secondly disapproving of some entity and wanting to fight against said entity is a radically different thing.
Also, remember chomsky had (literally) only a minute of time to disclose the study he referenced, yet you had an unlimited amount of time, and yet you didn't either.

According to the analyst, Scott Ritter, the US is already attacking Iran with "unmanned drones" -- probably to provoke a response, which would then be used a pretext for a full-scale bombing, just as they did with Iraq before the invasion.

You've simply misunderstood what he said. 'Taliban fighters' means the Taliban's fighters (in other words, the Taliban) - obviously.
He was saying that according to the recent Canadian study the Taliban wanted foreign forces out of the country, so that they can come to an accommodation with the US-installed government. And, conversely, Afghans in general wanted accommodation with the Taliban, not war.
It's quite simple. You're just being very obtuse.

In the years just prior to the Taliban the country was in complete caos (a relative term I must admit) so when they arrived they were welcomed with open arms. Then ensued relative carm. One exapmle = UN survey of a 95% drop in drug prduction. Now they have gone and again the country is descending into complete Caos. And the Lacky Karzai cannot go anywhere without full protection - tells you all you need to know.

So a small error like this makes them clueless, but the almost unanimous chorus from the US media that "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and plans to create a mushroom cloud over NYC" is ok by you?
At least hundreds of thousands of people including over 4,000 dead and 30,000 maimed US solders dont result from calling Chomsky a nobel winner.
By the way, the reporter is a seasoned journalist who worked for the Guardian, BBC, CNN, Bloomburg before PressTV.
