Can you imagine the ... ( 2 months ago by profootballplayer)
Can you imagine the cost of homes if they were to install this system into each new home built from now on? A $300,000 home woud probably cost $1.3 million. Just send me the electric bill.

Good point, rez3, but people who think short term usually don't make the money to afford to think long term.
Well...... isn't ... ( 2 months ago by jeffreytrochelman)
Well...... isn't that SPECIAL ! Now all Mike has to do is provide US a copy of his grant proposal to the PU and a list of the donations from the manufactories. That might help, or we could all spend our money buying LOTTO tickets. So exactly what is the point of this presentation. I am certainly envious. Other then that it just pisses me off that I don't have a spare million laying around.

very good comment, esp. the second to last sentence. oh how many of those insecure "nerds of arrogance " have i seen in the industry... too many to mention. well put.
The point is just ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
The point is just to show if you have the desire and the drive there are alternatives out there. Pretty simple. Just because this is an extreme example does not mean you have to go this far. There is middle ground. You just cannot be complacent and expect everyone to do your work for you.
Some people have goals and drive and some are complacent, sarcastic and apathetic.
Some people change the world and some let the world change them.
This is an extreme ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
This is an extreme high end example. As with everything else in life there is middle ground. But for most folks, that just goes without saying...

With that setup, ... ( 2 months ago by graveyardpc)
With that setup, one thing I would consider adding is an anchored cement traffic barrier around the perimeter of the hydrogen tanks with a ten foot, razor wire topped, fence.
That way you could be assured no one is going to cause a serious accident.
'idealism of youth' ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
'idealism of youth' Is that your motto?
I have been 100% solar since 1971. I have not burned a gallon of gasoline since 1984. I run 100% used/recycled vegetable oil and or sustainably grown bio-diesel both which have near zero emissions.
I produce an average of $4000.00+ per year of excess electricity which I feed back into the grid and which I am reimbursed by my local power company.

I use the check to take a 30 day annual vacation to places such as Bora Bora, Bali, Hawaii, Guam, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Grand Cayman Island, Jamaica, Trinidad and Australia just to name a few of the places I have gone on this energy rebate.
My system was ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
My system was purchased mostly used on Ebay and cost me less than $10,000.00 some of which I recovered in tax rebates for alternative energy from the state, county and federal government.
I can go on and on but I feel I have already overwhelmed you and gone over your head.

Anyway; enjoy your youthful idealism, maybe I will see you out in the break on the North Shore of Oahu or possibly in Bahia, Brazil on my fall trip. If I miss you there I will be headed to Santorini and Mykanos Islands, Greece next season with my rebate check. I will be staying at Paradise Nude Beach in a bed and breakfast which I frequent. great place.

Rodney, that is an amazing set-up you have. Sure would have been nice if builders, during our now busted housing boom, built all those new homes to take advantage of this technology.
Back in about '98 ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
Back in about '98 it became pretty common practice in decent tract projects to pre-install at least partial power photovoltaic cells in California and Hawaii. For some reason the rest of the states didn't really pick up on the lead.
Now with the economy and the cost cutting and skyrocketing in lumber and building supply prices this practice has been cut back pretty heavily.
I do agree with you ... ( 2 months ago by rodneykingman)
I do agree with you. It is a shame. I am sure the states have something to do with it. Just imagine the taxes they collect on power generation. It must be in the billions per state per year.
Did I hear that ... ( 2 months ago by gworthey)
Did I hear that right? Ten 2000 gallon tanks, with H2 at 200psi, and it only stores the equivalent of 40 gallons of gasoline? That sounds pretty lousy!! (otherwise, this is awesome video)
This setup is not ... ( 2 months ago by theunknownknows)
This setup is not viable in heavily populated areas. Not enough square footage. I myself wonder why business do not have solar/wind supplementation on their nice, high, uncluttered, flat rooftops.

Is it true that PV panels have a life expectancy of only 8-10 years? That puts them lower on the list of options for many.
" overwhelmed you ... ( 2 months ago by jeffreytrochelman)
" overwhelmed you and gone over your head" Absolutely, I'm just at a loss. Are you talking about your love of travel, passion to save the planet, inherent intellectual superiority or your abundance of backhanded insults. Here, allow me to coddle your fragile ego. Wonderful presentation, you have inspired me beyond words. Don't take it so bloody personal. Cheers

Obviously, posters like the one a few posts back "
jeffreytrochelman" have an emotional issue that only mommy can help with.
Now, as for the homeowner who has proven to be not only impressive in his ability to completely understand the energy creating choices we have, and put them to use, he delivers it in video in a manner that is easy to follow and quite inspiring. Common sense says it's only time and interest that will make systems like this affordable. THANK YOU for your efforts! :-) :-)
