The Dixie Chicks have the right to express their views, political and otherwise, as they see fit. The fact that they were blackballed and ostracized for expressing their freedom of speech says more about an American inability to truly respect freedom of speech than it does anything else.

It's always struck me as odd to proclaim yourself to be (an armchair hero) in favor of freedom.

En France c'est tous les jours que les artistes utilisent leur musique et leur célébrité pour dénoncer les propos ou les actions tenues par des politiciens qu'ils n'apprécient pas, majoritairement ceux de gauche, par contre l'inverse se produit aussi on peut encencer le parti de son choix.

I admit that these girls are talented, however I would hesitate to jump on the "they were right all along bandwagon". Natalie did not see the future by making those comments about Bush. She was merely an artist who made an ignorant comment based solely on the grounds of her personal anti-war beliefs. Yet I see them now being hailed as visionaries, statues of free speech and champions of democracy. If you will worship anyone it should be the P.R. reps. Amazing and Scary.
