RAF AFGHAN DIARIES: SPECIAL FEATURE: RAF Kit 2 -- SA 80 LSW
Uploaded by: royalairforce
Video Description:
SPECIAL FEATURE: The second of three special features on the kit that RAF Regiment Gunners use on an everyday basis. Armed with a high visibility scope and a longer barrel, it is accurate at longer ranges.
The RAF has given Paul Goodfellow a handheld video and a small 'lipstick' camera to create his films; he has no previous experience as a cameraman. His videos are checked in Kandahar to ensure they don't include any sensitive data, then sent to London and posted online.

The A2 however is very reliable and is very light and manoeuvrable. New designs to the cocking handle, gas plug and bolt reduce the risk of blockages.
I use the A2.
I have never had a problem since, using live or blank rounds.
Putting the rifle in water will cause the working parts to rust, aswell as the main body and TMH.
Placing it in mud may subject the TMH and magazine to mud getting inside, which can and most likely will lead to a blockage and sand will cause a problem with the rounds in the magazine, and debris in the barrel and working parts
"Op" Silkman was a capability demonstration to friendly local leaders. Nothing more than an airshow. Gratz on your "Combat Drop" RAF Reg.

We had a great design in the EM2 in 1951 - a weapon and round 40 years ahead of its time. We should have told the Yanks to get fucked and adopted it unilaterally. Unfortunately, Churchill let us down again with respect to the Americans. His complete inability to see their cynicism was his great failing.
