Its not based upon the SAS. The idea of the SAS was needed for the US government so they created a covert deniable special forces group. Totally black ops, nothing like the SAS I assure you of that. These men are practically just guns for hire. these men will disguise themselves as another military of another nation to finish the job just to stay invisible. We don't need Delta for special forces tasks outside and inside the US. We have plenty of SOF Units. Delta is guns for hire.

If they were ever actually in the regiment, surely their methods/tactics would come under the official secrets act...by which they would still be bound...in fact, wouldnt SAS personnel generally not be authorised to reveal any involvement?
