I am French i live in France, i would like to thanck all Canadian martyrs who did give their lives to help France during the WW2!
I am against any Quebec's indepandence, because Canada is an exemple of democratic federation to all the world. You know past was difficult but we must forgive everybody, Canada must be one and united, it is the only exemple of democraty!

In order to become a member of Parliament, one must bear allegiance to the Queen as well...and yet Quebec sovereigntists somehow get passed that. It's only a process. I bore allegiance to my country.

I realize it's "just" a system. But a system that is old and archaic, which should have no place today. And not only Canadian monarchy, but monarchy in general.
I am against Quebec sovereignty, but I am not against Quebec autonomy...and I definitely think that Canada should not have accepted Kosovo as an independant state if it doesn't allow Quebec to create its own country.

Of course she deserves respect...she is a person like you and me. Everyone deserves respect, but I refuse to respect her as a monarch...only as a person. And do not think for a moment that I am not a proud Canadian because I don't believe that we should maintain the monarchy.

How did you get into the Canadian military without an oath to the Monarch? I wouldn't have got into the USAF without taking an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, and to obey the orders of the President and my State Governor (I was in the Air National Guard) and those senior in rank to me.

From a sociopolitical point of view, I doubt it. Quebecers don't seem to give a shit about the monarchy one way or another. If Canada were a republic, they would likely still want to be "sovereign." BTW, Jacques Parizeau is a great admirer of the monarchy. Also, if you make Warrant Officer, are you going to refuse to wear the Crown insignia that WO's wear?

Mr Rudd is a committed republican and entitled to his views. I just hope he remembers that it is the current system of government he serves under that gives him the freedoms to have such views. Here in the USA we haven't done so well as a "republic." I hope it gets better.
