Yes there is kung fu based in mma. Look up Cung Le. He took middle weight title from Frank Shamrock, broke his arm with kicks. Didn't look very useless to me.

Well, Sanshou is a modernized compilation of traditional styles, but it evolved into a kickingboxing looking style. Traditional styles do work though.

during the shang dynasty, the widely practiced imperial art was of close resemblence to san shou
le vs shamrock. caught the kick and sweep. looks like tai chi application there. SUN YAT SEN had san shou developed for the kuomintang from chinese traditional. there are 2000+ styles of TCMA. at least one is gonna bound to have throws, and even ground work.

San-Shou is just like Lei Tai, a modern combat sport influenced by chinese martial arts. The reason ppl train those is for ring fighting purposes. Why train in finger strenght and specific training when you want to do a ring sport where you cant use those skills. The rules make the game, so when you train for a martial sport competition, you train only what you have the right to use. thats why they train sanshou and styles like that. In real life there are no rules.
